Radiofrequency Skin Tightening
Age-related collagen loss in the face is the leading cause of loose or lax skin, and wrinkles. Lasers (such as Laser Genesis) and ultrasound (such as Ultherapy) have been used to stimulate collagen production in the skin to tighten skin and reduce visible fine lines and wrinkles. Advantages of Radiofrequency Skin Tightening Treatment
Two other technologies which have been applied for skin tightening are lasers and ultrasound. Lasers, such as Laser Genesis®, are limited by the light transmission properties of the skin. As a result, such treatments can depend greatly on a person’s skin type and skin tone, limiting its effectiveness without burning the skin.
Ultrasound techniques, such as Ultherapy®, though effective, are often associated with very significant discomfort and can occasionally result in burns. Ultherapy® also can cause nerve damage and nerve palsies, although these are typically temporary.
Forma, by InMode®, uses radiofrequency alternating current to stimulate collagen production. It is safe and controlled because the treatment probe measures temperature, temperature rise, and impedance during a treatment to ensure a uniform and treatment, and automatically adjusts the energy during treatment to safely maintain the proper temperature.

Why Forma?
Forma is applied through the surface of the skin, and the separation of the electrodes controls the depth of the treatment under the skin surface.
Treatments with Forma are very comfortable. Many patients even find the experience relaxing, like a warm massage.

What to expect with Forma
Having Forma is typically a very relaxing experience. A cooling ultrasound gel is applied to the surface of the skin, and the probe is moved back and forth on the surface of the treatment area. During the skin tightening treatment, you will feel a comfortable, warm sensation similar to a hot stone massage. A typical Forma treatment takes about 30-60 minutes per area. After the treatment, the area is cleaned, dried, and a layer of lotion or sunscreen is applied. Recovery is rapid with very minimal downtime. You may have some redness and swelling for 1-2 days. After a treatment, you should avoid sun exposure and use sunscreen for 2 weeks.
