PRP - THERADOME
Hair loss is a complex and difficult problem. Hormone imbalances play a part, and thus medications like minoxidil and finasteride can be helpful, as can restoring hormone balance with the help of a qualified physician. Not all hair loss responds to medications, however, and side effects and allergies can prevent others from realizing a benefit. At Juvenessence Medical Aesthetics, we are happy to offer a modality that can help reduce hair loss and promote hair restoration in men and women.
Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP)
Platelet-Rich Plasma (PRP) is a preparation of your own blood that has been spun to concentrate the platelets and growth factors and remove red and white blood cells. Platelets are a natural source of cytokines and growth factors. Since it is a preparation of your own blood, PRP injections do not carry the risk of rejection or disease transmission that must be considered with some other tissue preparations. Our clinic uses an FDA-approved solution for isolating PRP from your blood.
Over a series of 3 or more sessions, 4-6 weeks apart, PRP is injected into the scalp in areas of hair thinning or hair loss. Over the course of a few months, PRP restores and strengthens active follicles, resulting in healthier and fuller hair. It is especially effective for hair loss caused by genetics (androgenic alopecia) and can also help with patchy hair loss (alopecia areata).
Low-level Light Therapy (LLLT)
Red and near infrared light stimulate cellular activity to promote tissue repair and regeneration. Studies have shown that red and near infrared laser light can promote hair regrowth. The red light is absorbed into the skin and the hair follicle, and stimulates blood flow to reactivate dormant follicles. Using a topical laser-light treatment (LLLT) such as Theradome® 2-3 times a week pairs well with PRP injections to help you achieve the best hair restoration result.
