There are several different kinds of PDO threads. The most dramatic are barbed, or lifting, threads. Lifting threads have small Velcro-like fingers on them to help pull skin up into place. Smooth threads help support the tissues in an area and can help repair and tighten skin and create new collagen. Twisted, or plumping, threads can be used in some areas for volume, similar to dermal fillers.
Not everyone is a candidate for a PDO thread lift. Some people may find that a surgical procedure or a combination of different nonsurgical procedures is needed to achieve their goals.
Although people often see noticeable improvement immediately after receiving threads, the results continue to improve for months afterwards, as the threads dissolve and are replaced with collagen. What to Expect For Your PDO Thread Lift
The entire PDO thread face lift process usually takes only about 90 minutes. To prepare, you’ll need to avoid alcohol use for at least 2 days, and discontinue the use of medications and supplements that may increase the risk of bruising and bleeding, like ibuprofen, aspirin, green tea/green tea extract, and omega-3 fatty acids.
To have your PDO threads placed, you’ll lie back in a recliner. Your provider will sanitize your face with alcohol, then numb your face with lidocaine. A small opening will be made in the area, and your provider will use a device called a “cannula” to place the threads, anchor them in place, and then trim the PDO threads after they’re secured to the proper area.
